I am from an old, red light saber
From children's books
Battered and torn, and read a long time ago
And a stuffed Pooh Bear
I am from the boxes lying around the houses' bonus room
Stuffed with the memorabilia of the old days
I am from soccer
Running up and down the field
Chasing madly at the black and white ball
I am from swimming
Exhausting practices
Which fill my body with tiredness
I am from camping
From the nature and fresh air
I am from vacations
A must have after a long months in school
I am from opera
Which is a family tradition
I am from Chinese movies
Full of action and boring talks
I am from the dead fish in my old garden
Which was buried between the pink roses and graceful lilacs
I am from plastic bags floating in my swimming pool
I am from green sticks
That I used to use as spears
And old water guns
Squeaking uselessly as their moldy triggers were pulled
I am from those giant pickup trucks from Utah
That is clustered in great groups
I am from the battered skateboards lolling around on some street
I am from fallen, squashed cherries that litter the front of my driveway
I am from the sayings "Go to sleep!"
And "Five more minutes"
I am also from "Hello!"
And "Goodbye"
Which were said a million and one times
I am from a lot of places,
I am also from Seattle.

I like this poem a lot. I like this poem because; I could really picture some of the things that were said. For example, where it says "I am from fallen, squashed cherries that litter the front of my driveway". Also, I like it because; it reminds me of things from the past, and because I can relate to some of the things. There was no rhyme scheme in this poem, and my favorite poems usually rhyme, but I like this one a lot because of the things that I can relate to. I also like this poem because of the things that this poem reminds me of. It most reminded me of my cousin's old house and my old house. The parts that reminded me of these things were; I am from the dead fish in my old garden, And old water guns squeaking uselessly as their moldy triggers were pulled and also the part where it said, I am from an old, red light saber from children's books battered and torn and read a long time ago. While reading this poem I was really able to picture everything that was said. I really enjoyed this poem and hope that you get a chance to read it too.
I am from raspberry picking contests
Knowing the berries would always grow back
From a red wagon, full of sports items
That can always provide something to do
I am from crazy stories about my dad
And his countless childhood pranks
Wishing that the rules today allowed for the stunts he pulled
I am from trips to Neighbor's and Under the Red Umbrella
Knowing that even pocket change will get me a snack
From the time spent walking the summery streets
I am from photo albums
Jam packed with memories
Each one a portal to a different part of my past
I am from Thanksgiving family gatherings
My dad's family, crammed around my Aunt Renee's table
Turkey, stuffing, and potatoes galore
I am from Grand Park
And its role as host to countless hours with my friends
The trees providing perfect boundaries for whatever game we want
I am from a yard dug up
By an exuberant young puppy
Who doesn't know any better
I am from Puerto Rico
And Rhode Island
Places I have never called home, but that my parents did

I really liked this poem because, there were some things said in it that I could relate to. For example, where it says, I am from photo albums jam packed with memories. That I can relate to. Also I liked this poem because; there was good description that allowed me to picture what was going on. The part that said, my dad’s family, crammed around my Aunt Renee’s table turkey, stuffing, and potatoes galore. I was really able to picture a lot of people crowded around a table on Thanksgiving night. Also I liked how he had good word choice, like exuberant and galore. I really enjoyed this poem, you should read it too.
